KIE Curriculum Digitization and e-Learning Strategy 5th, Sept- 2011
On 12th September 2011, Kellen and other consultants attended a stakeholder’s workshop to launch the KIE Curriculum Digitization and e-Learning Strategy. The new plan aimed to boost e-learning in public school and give a guideline on how it would be conducted. The strategy provides a blueprint on how learning using digital content like websites, DVDs and computers can be fast-tracked in Kenyan schools.
"The success of curriculum digitization and e-learning strategy will lead to improved access, equity, quality and the relevance of Education offered in Kenya," said KIE Director Lydia Nzomo. She further revealed that KIE has already digitized content for major subjects in form one and two and are ready for use, adding that content for form three and four may be completed by December this year to fully unlock e-learning in Kenya.
Kellen Kaburu, an education expert who prepared the strategy said that there very few laptop computers, projectors, printers and radios in many educational institutions.
The strategy calls for digitization of curriculum for primary, secondary, Teacher Training Colleges, Technical and Vocational Training Institutions, adult and early childhood education. It also calls for dissemination of digital content through various mechanisms namely radio, TV, DVDs, CDs, flash disks, mobile phones and internet.

During the 29th Conference of Association for Education Assessment in Africa (AEAA), Kellen Training worked closely with Kenya National Examination council to offer the following service before, during and after services.
Peer Review of abstracts and papers for presentation:
Kellen Training was mandated to per review all the abstracts and papers that were sent by the delegates in order to ensure that they were in accordance with the theme and subtheme of the conference.
Rapportuer and write communiqué during the conference:
During the conference, the consultants was expected to rapportuer during the conference; this entailed sitting through the presentation and noting all the major recommendations and observation, this would further be used to write the communiqué.
Reviews papers for Journal publication
The final part on this assignment was to review the papers that’s had been presented during the conference and would be published in the AEAA journal.
