Ministry of State for public service
Assignment: Computerization/Automation of Operations and Information and Knowledge Management
The ministry of state for public service in the office of the prime minister contracted Kellen Kaburu to offer consultancy service in ICT Audit. The exercise involved two categories which were computerization/ automation and Information and Knowledge management. The aim was to ensure that service delivery to the public is excellent and to also identify the best performing ministry or department.
All the 44 Ministries/Departments were automatic participants in the exercise and data was collected from the participants both physically and online using a Comartis e-survey. The data was analyzed and the outcome contained two separate reports one on computerization/automation and another one on information and knowledge management.
Kenya National Examinations Council
Assignment: Peer review for 29th AEAA conference papers
The overall goal of the consultancy is to support Kenya National Examinations Council carry out a professional peer review of the conference papers to be presented during the 29th Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA) annual conference to be held in Nairobi from 1std to 5th August 2011. The theme of the conference is Educational Assessment and Regional Integration.
Kenya Institute of Education
Assignment: Curriculum Digitization and e-Learning Strategy
Kellen Kaburu worked with other consultants to support Kenya Institute of Education in development of a curriculum digitization and e-Learning strategy. The consultants carried out a situational analysis whose objectives were to identify current policies that govern integration on ICT in education, establish and prioritize levels and quantities of curriculum content to be digitized, determine types of equipment and application software required for digitization and e-learning at different levels and Establish skills levels and upgrade requirements for integration in education.
Ministry of Education
The firm completed two projects for Ministry of Education, Kenya. The projects were funded by UNICEF and involved sensitization of ministry staff on the newly developed Education Management Information System (EMIS).
Major task in these two projects was to support the Ministry in implementation of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) at various levels; school, zonal, district, province and national. Activities included training needs assessment, development of training materials, improvement and standardization of capacity building programs, training workshops at national and district level. The consultants facilitated and supervised several EMIS sensitization workshops that were conducted at Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, and Kisumu.

Kenya Education Staff InstituteTop
The firm participated in the induction of District Education Officers conducted by Kenya Education Staff Institute in September 2007. The training was for the newly appointed District Education Officers (DEOs) to increase awareness levels of their position roles and responsibilities. The DEOs were inducted on the effective leadership qualities, education policies, and management of services delivery. The five days sensitization covered a variety of topics including performance management, management of change and conflict resolution.
Kenya Methodist University Top
In this project, Kellen Training was required to work with a team of other consultants to evaluate softwares used by the university in its Meru and Nairobi campus. This project involved data collection through key informant interviews. The university required to enhance their data processing systems. The assignment was necessary to enable the University determine immediate and future needs in terms of a computerized database management system.
